Design for the busiest programme interval
Describe changes in attendance and where people gather during the event. Include staff and vendors, and explain any separated activity areas. A festival layout may require more than one restroom position; discuss quantity, washing and user routes as a connected plan rather than an isolated unit count.
Give servicing a route through the setup
Coordinate barriers and supplier vehicles so agreed service access remains possible. Explain opening hours, overnight restrictions and who can answer questions while the programme is running. Review supplies and cleaning for the expected use, with an agreed contact for changes rather than an assumed universal schedule.
Distribute facilities around the programme
For an event with several activity areas, describe where people gather and whether breaks happen together. Staff and vendors may use the facilities for longer than individual visitors. Discuss whether one group of units is practical or several positions need review; each position must still be accessible for the agreed servicing arrangement.
Keep the operating plan with the event lead
- Show toilet and washing locations on the current layout.
- Identify who checks for supply or equipment issues during each session.
- Agree a way to coordinate service access around crowds and barriers.
Leave room to use the facilities
Plan accessible approaches, handwashing, queue space and clear directions. Keep pedestrian movement separate from supplier vehicles and do not allow queues to block key access routes.
